in my mind

A character in this reality, each of us is a character in each episode. Everyone else is watching in another reality. Who is to say what is known? What if all that is known is just perceived? Everything we know is almost everything that we have been told. If our ancestors figured their own truths, why are we not looking for our own?

Turning the knob

Keeping a guest waiting
is not like me
in the cold, snow covered ground
a way is made for you
my friend
into the warmth
my friend
hot tea
my friend

Door knob plays
shadows run back and forth
but my friend, the excitement to see you
and to know now that you put your feet in my shoes
I can't find the word my friend...

If my friend would have told me
I would not let filth touch me
but you my friend
did the worst of things
my friend
you let me enter a compromised flesh
and let me lay in your filth
if you knew how filthy it was
you wouldn't be able to digest your last meal
and for so long, I could not wash the filth off

Door knob plays
shadows run back and forth
but my friend, the excitement to see you
and to know now that you put your feet in my shoes
I can't find the word...

Not a feeling of guilt, my friend
not even a sorry my friend
and my friend
it occurred to me
never that you would deny me
entry to almost my own door
and in the cold that was ripping into my cloth
consideration was not hitting you, my friend
but I forgive you my friend
and I hope that you forgive yourself my friend...

Door knob plays
shadows run back and forth
but my friend, the excitement to see you
and to know now that you put your feet in my shoes
I can't find the word...

oh my friend
how I have been hit
by disappointment,
the claws dragging on my skin
the bite infecting wounds
At last I was saved
my friend
I see now your hands
but far from a reach
